Meet Gabe

Gabe Ponichter is a 15-year-old actor, singer, dancer and pianist living in New York City. Gabe is known for his work in creating the role of Young Giorgio in the world premiere of The Garden of the Finzi-Contini at NYTF & The New York City Opera. Most recently Gabe performed the role of Peter in Shuffles NYC's Peter Pantomime.

Gabe has performed at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Bergen PAC, and Hunter College’s Kaye Playhouse. Some of Gabe’s favorite youth theatre credits are Valjean (Les Miserables) and King Claudius (Hamlet) with The Dalton School drama department, and Evan (Thirteen the Musical) with Shuffles Broadway Tap and Musical Theater School. Gabe is a member of Shuffles Studio AP teen musical theater company and was recognized with the Junior Joy Award in 2021. 

In 2022, Gabe won 1st Place in the Prima Volta Music Competition as well as the Salzburg and Amsterdam Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competitions. He was also a Semi Finalist in the CS Music Competition for Classical High School Voice in the Spring of 2022. In 2021, Gabe won First Place in the vocal category of the International Grande Music Competition. Gabe has been a finalist for several years in a row in the Art Song and Musical Theatre categories of the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition.  He has performed extensively with the Broadway Youth Ensemble, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. 

In addition to studying voice at Manhattan School of Music (Pre-College Division) and Interlochen Arts Camp's Opera and Voice Program, Gabe also studies acting, advanced tap, ballet, jazz, musical theater, classical piano, guitar, and songwriting and has performed in several honors piano recitals, including at Interlochen Center for the Arts.  He is a member of his school's cross-country team and is a Level 6 American Red Cross swimmer. You can contact Gabe via his representation at Stewart Talent Agency.
